Being environmentally is important for WoodCo. We strive to protect and improve our natural surroundings everyday. When purchasing a wood product from WoodCo, you can be confident that you are not only getting a quality product, but a sustainable and environmentally friendly product as well. Here are just a few ways that we pride ourselves as contributing in a positive way to our environment.
No Landfill Waste
Raw lumber comes into our facility and gets milled into flooring, wall paneling, or made into stair parts. Any waste created from this milling is made into sawdust. This sawdust is then used for horse bedding, boiler fuel, or to make compost.
Green Footprint
Being green is important for the team at WoodCo, hence our team is continually looking for ways to decrease our carbon footprint. Some of the ways that we are exploring are using solar and wind energy to fuel our manufacturing facility.
CARB Compliant
All of the material that WoodCo uses is either from North American or from Western Europe. All of this material is CARB Compliant and has no added Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or formaldehyde.
FSC Certified
WoodCo is certified by SCS to FSC standards. This is a chain of custody certification that ensures your our products are handled correctly from the forest all the way to when you receive them. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) explains that by meeting this standard, a forest management company achieves controlled wood certification. This means that the material sourced has not been harvested illegally, in violation of traditional or civil rights, or in a way that threatens high conservation value (HCV) areas. Controlled wood must also not be taken from forests being converted to plantation or non-forest use, or from forests containing genetically modified trees.
Take a look at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City project. This project uses over 70,000 S/F of FSC certified white oak flooring.
