For a workplace interiors firm, no space matters more than your own. It’s where process meets proof – where design decisions become a lived experience.
That was the challenge behind the new Austin showroom for CultureSpace, a firm that helps businesses shape thoughtful, brand-aligned work environments. The space had to function both as a real office, and as a full-scale expression of the kind of interiors they create for others.
Designed by S. Tipton Studio, the project paired deliberate restraint with moments of architectural clarity. WoodCo was selected early in the process to supply a core material – Caramel Plank engineered oak. Installed in ceiling planes, feature nooks, and custom millwork, the oak sets the tone, adding warmth, structure, and visual continuity throughout.
Workplace interior design
Known for delivering accessible, well-considered workplace interiors, CultureSpace saw their Austin showroom as an opportunity to evolve their brand presence. The goal was to create a space that communicated their capabilities with more design intention, while still reflecting their practical, client-focused approach.
The showroom needed to operate as a real office and also offer a curated experience for visiting clients, with demountable walls, acoustical systems, and commercial furnishings presented within a cohesive interior.
To this end, the designers focused on proportion, material clarity, and flow. Selective upgrades to lighting, surfaces, and detailing gave the space presence – delivering impact without excess.
Material choices followed the same design logic. Every finish needed to feel intentional, with the right tone, texture, and presence to support the space.
This is what led the team to WoodCo’s Caramel Plank.
Engineered oak for offices
Chosen for its warm tone, natural grain, and refined character, Caramel Plank brought the design clarity the space called for.
This character-grade engineered European oak is milled from Western European trees – sourced from the same forests as French oak – and offers the appearance of solid wood with the added stability of a plywood core. Its light caramel hue and balanced variation made it ideal for ceiling planes, wall treatments, and custom millwork.
The material tied the space together through tone, alignment, and detail. Its consistent grain and color added rhythm to the interior, and its placement across multiple surfaces created a strong sense of continuity.
Caramel Plank contributed to the experience of the space with clarity and intent, reinforcing the architecture at every point of use.
Material clarity
From the moment you enter the showroom, oak plays an active role in shaping the experience.
At reception, Caramel Plank frames the brand itself. It wraps the ceiling and the wall behind the laser-cut steel sign, anchoring the logo within the space and setting the tone from the outset. The lighting is integrated cleanly, bringing softness to the angles and creating a clear sense of arrival.
In the soft seating nook, the same material is used more intimately. Laid diagonally across the wall and ceiling, it creates a quiet pocket within the open plan – somewhere to pause, meet, or simply reset. The lighting and wood work together here to shift the mood and scale of the space.
The kitchen brings it all together. Caramel Plank runs across the ceiling, continues through the cabinetry, and grounds the floor. The effect is warm and unified, giving the area a central, communal energy.
Kitchens that connect
In contemporary workplace design, the kitchen has moved beyond utility. It is now a core part of how teams connect, reset, and collaborate. It functions as a social anchor, encouraging informal interaction and supporting workplace wellbeing.
At WoodCo, we understand the thinking that goes into creating these kinds of environments. Designing for connection requires materials that contribute to both functionality and atmosphere.
Wood plays a proven role in supporting that balance. Studies show that the presence of natural materials like wood in workspaces can reduce stress, improve focus, and support overall wellbeing. It introduces warmth, texture, and a sense of familiarity that encourages people to feel at ease within a space.
This is why wood remains a trusted choice in workplace interiors. When used with care, it helps create spaces that are not only effective, but genuinely comfortable to spend time in.
Considered results
The CultureSpace showroom reflects a design process built on clarity, trust, and material alignment. Caramel Plank supported that process across every application, helping define the space with consistency and tone.
For WoodCo, this was an opportunity to contribute to a workspace that functions with intention and reflects the values behind its design. It’s the kind of project that speaks to the strength of early collaboration and the lasting impact of well-chosen materials.
