Clubs Village Modern: A floating oasis at Cordillera Ranch

Choosing a plot with a steep incline calls for a certain clarity of vision. Set within the terrain of Cordillera Ranch, this residence responds with precision – projecting forward from the hillside so that its main living spaces sit almost floating above the landscape.

Wide plank European oak flooring and natural wood finishes ground that expression, bringing warmth and continuity to a home defined by openness, elevation, and view.

Shaped by the slope

That initial move – projecting forward from the hillside – defines how the house engages its setting. Here, architect Oscar E. Flores and builder Todd Glowka respond directly to the incline, allowing uninterrupted views across the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course while giving the rear of the house a clear sense of extension.

From there, the architecture follows a single direction. What begins as a response to the land becomes the organizing principle for the entire house, carrying each space forward toward the landscape.

Lifting the front, releasing the view

From the street, the composition is angled and upward-facing. Backwards-slanted rooflines and extended overhangs draw the eye up, giving the front elevation a sense of lift without overstatement.

Beneath those overhangs, wood panelling lines the soffit, introducing warmth at the point of arrival. That same surface continues inside, forming a ceiling plane that carries across the great room. It’s a precise gesture – one that visually pulls the exterior through the glazing line and reinforces the idea of the house extending beyond its envelope.

Custom finished floors

The organization of the home is direct and legible. From the point of entry, the plan moves forward through the great room and out to the rear patio, maintaining a constant relationship with the view.

Underfoot, our Concan Plank in a custom finish carries that movement. The XL width of each board matters here. Wider planks reduce visual interruption across the floor plane, allowing the eye to travel more freely through the space. In a house defined by long sightlines, that continuity becomes critical in supporting both the scale of the architecture and the clarity of the layout.

At a finer scale, the floor takes on a greater level of precision. Concan features a subtle micro bevel along each edge, creating a fine shadow line between boards. This allows each plank to register individually as light moves across the surface, introducing definition without breaking the overall continuity of the floor.

Blurring boundaries

At the rear, the architectural intent becomes fully apparent. The great room opens directly onto the patio and entertaining areas, with expansive glazing dissolving the boundary between inside and out.

A slatted wood ceiling and towering stucco wall define the volume of the space, working alongside the glazing and sloped ceiling to draw natural light deep into the interior. The effect is measured rather than dramatic, allowing the great room to extend naturally into the exterior spaces beyond.

Spaces shaped for living

The kitchen sits at the center of the home, anchored by a large marble island. A secondary prep space sits just beyond, keeping storage and everyday function out of view and allowing the main area to remain composed.

Grey cabinetry, marble surfaces, and polished metal fittings are offset by a wood-clad extractor, introducing a vertical element that defines the cooking area. Wide plank European oak runs continuously underfoot, tying the space back to the rest of the house.

Elsewhere, a combined game and media room offers a more enclosed, relaxed setting, tucked into the center of the home. But the true success of this space lies in how it holds together as it opens out toward the golf course; shaped by the hillside and fully engaged with the landscape beyond.
