GAITHERSBURG, Md, September 4, 2007 - Sodexho, Inc., the leading provider of integrated food and facilities management services in North America, announced today the appointment of Patrick “Pat” E. Connolly as company COO and market president of Health Care Services. Connolly fills the position vacated by George Chavel, who took the role of President and CEO of Sodexho's North America operations on September 1.
In his new role, Connolly will oversee operations and strategic growth for hospitals, senior services and laundry services in the United States. His focus includes driving growth in facilities management services as well as food and nutrition, and continuing to strengthen Sodexho's position in the fast growing seniors markets, especially the retirement lifestyle segment. With managed revenue of over $4.2 billion (USD) last year and in excess of 1,700 clients, Sodexho's Health Care Services business segment enjoys a leading industry market share position.
“For nearly 20 years, Pat has contributed vision and strategic acumen to strong growth for Sodexho's Senior Services and the Health Care Market in general,” Chavel said. “He has demonstrated his ability to lead growth in these highly regulated environments. Pat has shown that he can effectively interact with an industry that is seeing greater consumer influence and demand which will be the key to raising Sodexho's profile in all our Health Care divisions, making Sodexho the benchmark for clients and customers.”
Connolly is well known and highly regarded as an expert in the seniors market and the issues facing clients and consumers. He was recently named to the Leadership Circle of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). He is also a member of the Sponsorship Committee of the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. He has worked recently on the Institute for Aging Services' Advisory Commission, further demonstrating his strong commitment to the advancement of quality care for the elderly.
Connolly has a Bachelor of Business degree from Western Illinois University, and a Masters of Management from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
