Sodexho Earns Environmental Award from City of Gaithersburg during 'Green Week'

Program benefits disabled farmers through collaborative effort with "Cartridges for Kids" and Easter Seals

GAITHERSBURG, Md., April 30, 2007- Although Sodexho (NYSE:SDX) is known as the leader in foodservice and integrated facilities management services in North America, the Gaithersburg, Md-based company was also recognized for its programs that benefit the environment and the agriculture industry. Sodexho was awarded a 2007 Gaithersburg Environmental Award from the Mayor and City Council of Gaithersburg for its recently launched “AgrAbility Recycling Program.”

The “AgrAbility Recycling Program” is a partnership between Sodexho, the “Cartridges for Kids” program and the national Easter Seals organization. The program is designed to convert used office supplies like printer cartridges and old mobile phones into cash, which is donated to provide assistive technology solutions like modified farming and transportation equipment and tools to farmers with debilitating injuries or conditions and financial support for small farmers and ranchers.

This March marked the six-month point of the program. Sodexho and its participating partners have collected 1,535 total items at 24 locations which have resulted in a cash donation of $4,190.80.

“Not only does this program allow Sodexho to reduce our environmental footprint by reducing the amount of waste we are contributing to landfills, it also allows us to provide needed assistance to America's farmers, who are so vital to our country.” said Richard Macedonia, president and CEO of Sodexho, Inc.

The awards, given to local businesses, schools, homeowners' associations and citizens who demonstrate commitment to improving the community and the environment, are an initiative of the Gaithersburg Environmental Affairs Committee.
