POTTSVILLE, PA--March 1, 2005 - Visitors and employees of The Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic are enjoying a new environment which includes expanded facilities and menu selections in the recently renovated cafeteria managed by Sodexho USA, a leading innovator in healthcare foodservice. Recently, a special grand opening celebration was held which included exhibits, samples and prizes by many of the vendors who supply the cafeteria. The cafeteria, used by outpatients, guests and staff, now features new service stations, programs designed to provide healthier dining choices, special exhibition dining stations and upgraded choices in grab-n-go for customers on the run.
One of the key features is the latest in exhibition cooking, “Innovation Station.” Customers can order entrees and watch as hospital chefs prepare meals in front of them - meals so fresh they go directly from the hot pan to the customer's plate.
“Another feature of the new cafeteria is Sodexho's exclusive “Wellness and You” program. Designed by Sodexho to provide customers with information on healthier dining choices, “Wellness and You” identifies healthy menu items and provides nutritional analysis of food. The program allows customers to make their own healthy dining decisions based on their diet.
“This cafeteria renovation is a big step forward for the foodservice operations at The Pottsville Hospital,” said Ruth Schu, director of food and nutrition services for Sodexho USA's Health Care Division at the Pottsville Hospital. “The upgraded facility and the variety of dining choices show the continued commitment to the health of our customers by both the hospitals and Sodexho.”
As part of the grand opening, Sodexho partnered with Coca-Cola to bring the “Healing Hugs” program to patients at The Pottsville Hospital. This program, designed to bring a smile to patients' faces, included a visit from the familiar Coca-Cola Polar Bear who visited with pediatric patients and handed out special stuffed polar bears to the children.
