Community Involvement
Sodexo is closely involved in the communities we serve. Our community programs make sure that students still get the nutrition they require even when school isn't in session.
Giving back to those in need.
Children still need to eat when school is out, and Sodexo works hard to make sure not a single child goes hungry. Our Backpack Program is designed for students at risk of hunger over the weekend or holidays when school meals are unavailable. Sodexo teams with local food banks to fill non-descript backpacks that are distributed on Friday afternoon. Feeding Our Future, a summer program that provides students with free lunches while school is out of session, is now running in 18 metropolitan areas across the country.
Sodexo also works throughout the year to improve the daily quality of life for students. Our Playground Builds program has brought Sodexo volunteers together to build school playgrounds and provide meals in New Orleans and in other cities throughout the nation. Sodexo also awards STOP Hunger Scholarships in conjunction with the Sodexo Foundation to students who help to fight hunger in their communities and across the country.
