How to: 3D Wallboard Installation Guide

3D Wall Installation

Tools needed:

• Electric drill
• 100% polyurethane construction glue (3 tubes per 100 Sq Ft)
• Construction glue applicator
• Finishing saw or electric mitre saw
• Jigsaw
• Sawbench
• Laser level or six-foot level
• Measuring tape
• Hammer
• Small Rubber Mallet
• X-acto knife
• Finish hammer
• Stepladder

Steps:

1.)  Draw a horizontal line at ¾” and another at 1 ¼” from the floor. This line will be your horizontal level guide to install your 3D wallboard.

2.) Trace a level line vertically at ¾” and 1 ¼” from the left and right side of the wall.

3.) Cut a minimum of 8” from the beginning of the panel to create a straight edge to start the wall.

4.) A. On the back of the panel, apply a line of 100% polyurethane glue in the form of a rectangle (about 1” from edges) and an x inside of the rectangle. B. Be sure to apply glue to each of the individual pieces that extend past the panel.

5.) Position the panel at the lower left section of the wall in the adjustment area and the top section of the panel on the horizontal and vertical lines calculated earlier.

6.) Nail the panel in place with 23 nails on the contour lips and on the two bottom rows in angles between wood pieces. Never nail directly on the face of the narrow wood pieces.

7.) Repeat the gluing procedure from step 4. Insert the second panel in the previous one using the horizontal adjustment section. Repeat step 6.

8.) Measure the last panel from the top row of the panel already installed to the adjustment area where installation is to be completed. The jagged piece you will cut will become the first element of the next row.

9.) For the last panel to be installed in a row, draw a horizontal line at ¾” and one vertical line at 1 ¼” from the ceiling.

10.) Cut the panels of the last row to fit within the horizontal adjustment section.

11.) Insert the molding in the reserved space set at the beginning of the installation of the wall panels.

12.) Enjoy your new 3D wall!

Please Note: Some pieces may loosen when cutting and may need to be reattached. Also, be careful not to bend or twist the panels as this may weaken the bond and cause pieces to become loose. Any loose pieces can easily be reattached with the same construction adhesive used to install the panels.
